This is a gorgeous Victorian brooch or possibly earlier. It is a large piece at 2 inches high and featuring a pale cameo of a Bacchanalian goddess with amazing detail of dangling grapes and vines leave and a beautiful classical face. The frame is yellow metal and likely to be gold filled originally with lovely etching around the scalloped edges.
The rear has a good c clasp and a very nice chain and an inbuilt bail, so easy to use as a pendant. The front has a nice patina giving it some accents and there is natural patina and wear.
As a vintage or antique item, it will show signs of age and patina. This is a lovely very old piece.
