This is a beautiful Victorian Christmas card before they became established as they are now. It is likely to be 1860s and features a charming picture of comedy French character Cadet Roussel who has everything in threes and also features in French literature including a nursery rhyme and marching song. He has a funny hair style of three spikes, three colourful outfits and even three cats! It says to the bottom - Cadet Roussel a trois habits! It has a nice A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to the top and the back is unused aside from the name Larry and a pencil number. It has a Lith Jo Bognard to the side, crediting the artist.
It is a very rare and very charming piece which will display beautifully, particularly framed and measures 2.6 inches high and 4 inches across.
As a vintage or antique item, it will show signs of age and patina. This is a lovely very old item.
