This is a wonderful match safe or vesta from the Victorian era. It is a trick vesta which means you have to have the knack to open it - you have to press down in the right place! It is an advertising case with adverts each side for John Taylor & Co of Kirkcaldy Scotland and to the other side it says Try Old Taylor Liqueur Scotch Whiskey. It has a striker to the base and a good bail to the top so perfect for a fob or chatelaine and measures just under 2 inches high. It has lovely wear to the plated metal as shown and is in lovely antique condition and a charming piece for any small items.
As an antique item it will show signs of age and patina.
