This is a beautiful tape measure from the Victorian period. It is made of vegetable ivory and carved beautifully like a little pagoda with pretty scalloping around the base and gorgeous open work design. To the top is a carved bovine bone winder and this winds up the pale red tape which has 18 inches marked out very boldly and some extra tape after this. The tape winds up nicely and the whole piece is very attractive and in beautiful antique condition and stands just over 2 inches high.
As a vintage or antique item, it will show signs of wear and patina.
