This is a gorgeous wooden carved desk ink well in the shape of a charming dog. It is Black Forest in origin with a nice stamp for Torel on the base, so a lovely Grand Tour piece. It stands 3.5 inches high and is a good deep colour with a cheeky bulldog face with little glass eyes as shown. His whole head tips back and reveals a nice milk glass ink well to the interior. This can be removed and has a small blutack piece to the base to secure it and a good manufacturing number stamp to the base. The hinge is good and he is in very nice antique condition and a very charming piece and of course a useful little box in its own right.
As an antique item it will show signs of age and patina.
